Want to train your dog to retrieve items by name?
In this video you'll learn how to train item discrimination, or, the art of teaching your dog the name of different items. This is helpful for service dog tasks, like being able to ask your dog to retrieve your meds, and then a drink, or for some fun trick training!
The way I teach this is through successive approximations with the opportunity for your dog to build on their successes. You can also use this method to name just one item amongst all the items in your house.
