Leash Selection, Leash Handling, and Reinforcement Mechanics
My latest video is on the human end of the loose leash walking game. In my last video I talked about my strategy to train and maintain loose leash walking. To build on that video, this week I talk about the leash I use and why, how to hold it, and how I reinforce to create a reinforcement zone by my hip which essentially glues the dog to your side.
This strategy helps prevent forging or crossing over your body and tripping you. There's a lot of different ways to use cookies to reinforce heel position, but I find the method outlined here to be the way that works most consistently with the dogs that I've trained.
